Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using RateFloor, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website. These terms apply to the calculator, written content, downloadable public data, and contact channel.

What RateFloor provides

RateFloor provides an educational freelance pricing estimate. It reverses a user-selected take-home target through working capacity, fixed costs, variable overhead, and an estimated tax set-aside to produce an hourly and day-rate floor.

The output is not legal, tax, accounting, investment, employment, or financial planning advice. RateFloor does not calculate actual tax liability, determine legal classification, prepare a return, recommend a filing position, or verify whether a client will accept a quote.

Assumptions and estimates

Results depend entirely on the values entered. Small changes in utilization, time off, costs, or the estimated effective tax rate can materially change the quote. Default values are editable examples and do not describe a particular person, occupation, state, or country.

The recommended quote is a mathematical floor under the chosen assumptions. It is not a market price, earnings promise, guarantee of profitability, or maximum rate. Scope, demand, experience, urgency, risk, and client value may support a different quote.

Occupation reference data

Optional occupation comparisons use U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS figures for wage and salary employees. OEWS excludes self-employed workers. The values are employee wage references, not freelance market rates or contractor price recommendations.

Some displayed freelance roles use the nearest reasonable SOC occupation rather than an exact match. Mapping limitations are shown in the calculator. Data can be revised, delayed, unavailable, or contain errors despite reasonable review.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for checking assumptions, deciding what to quote, negotiating scope, complying with contracts and law, and obtaining qualified advice when needed. You should independently verify any result before making a significant business or financial decision.

You agree not to misuse the website, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with availability, introduce malicious code, scrape at a level that impairs service, misrepresent RateFloor as professional advice, or imply government endorsement.

Content and third-party materials

RateFloor branding, original explanations, interface, and calculation presentation are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Public government data remains subject to its source terms. Links to BLS, Tax Foundation, Cloudflare, and other websites are provided for context and do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.

No warranty and limitation

RateFloor is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranty is made that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, current, suitable for a particular purpose, or accurate for your circumstances.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RateFloor and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages arising from use of the website or reliance on an estimate. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits may not fully apply to you.

Changes and availability

Features, defaults, data, content, and these terms may change. Material term changes receive a new effective date. RateFloor may suspend or discontinue all or part of the site when reasonably necessary.
